Little Girls

Here are a bunch of pics of Mattea and Kayla over the past two weeks (so Kayla 6 months and Mattea 26 months)

Little Miss Kayla is crawling all over the place now! She likes to play with anything that she is not supposed to, and her favourite toys are anything that doesn't belong to her! She is also sitting reliably and can move easily between sitting and crawling. She has pulled herself to a stand once already, so we are going to have our hands full with this little monkey!
She has had her 1st mischief - she pulled over an entire planter, spilling dirt all over my cream carpet! Mattea, who does not like messes at all, cried, while Kayla laughed!
Pajama buddies:-)
Note Mattea's lovely shoes and "pretties" (aka her gaudy string of beads). She loves to dress up in her shoes and "fanciness" and the proceeds to play with cars, trucks and balls!

I believe this was a pirate face...

This...is a smile. Apparently. Its the face we get when we ask her to pose for the camera. Perhaps we should stick with candid shots:-P On the other hand, it gives us a good view of her teeth - 3 of her canines just broke through this week!
Kayla, on her way out of the family room - where all of her toys are, and into the hallway where none of her toys are and most likely on her way to find any doors that happen to be open.
Her hair is growing slowly but surely...but seems to be getting thicker as opposed to longer, and is definitely much lighter than her big sister's! She also got her ears pierced on the weekend she turned 6 months.
Kayla had her first cold over the past two weeks...and although we lost a bit of sleep, she was cheerful through it all!

Kennedy Kid Kwotes - Archive

In a very loud voice, at the sight of a very large man, "Hey! Where does that man buy his pants?" (Lehman 5)

19 month old Jillaine climbed up on Daddy's pile of lumber. When Mommy saw her, and before she could even open her mouth to scold her, Jillaine said, "Tand up ah Jeesah."

When caught mid-swing and told “you shouldn’t hit Brent when you are angry”, Darla put her hands on her hips and said
: “well, I don’t know what else I can do. I have no other possibilities.

Piper

Here are a few pictures of Piper. He is a fun, energetic dog and is the cutest one (in my opinion). These are some of his tricks.
Piper Praying
While Vienna was having her surgery Katana stayed with us, and Piper LOVED it. After she left he was so sad sitting around and moping all day.

Piper doing my favorite trick. If you tell him to sit and stay, then put a grape (or anything) in front of him he just stares at it. He will not take his eyes off it and he twitches his eyebrows, but he won't go get it until you say release.

Piper sitting on our mudroom shelves

If you open or close the front door, Piper goes running to the front window to see what you are doing. If you are leaving he will start to whine or bark.

Keaton Giggles

Due to a chest cold I was hacking and Keaton (5 mo+) thought it was hilarious. I couldn't hold the camera while I was coughing so I made other noises while he was on a roll and he couldn't stop giggling! Here is a video:

Wherever we are together, that is home!

Here are a couple of pictures of our home with the flooring replaced, painting done, and most of the trim done.

Long overdue...

It's been a while since I have posted any pics of the girls...so here you go, probably more than you want to see! Lol...

All of the pics were taken at the end of July/beginning of August, so Kayla was 4.5 months old.

In update news, Mattea is potty trained! We started right after her birthday (when she became a "big girl"), and after only 1.5 days, she was done (day and night!). It went much easier than I thought it would, which I guess means that she was probably ready a bit sooner. She weighed 30 lbs at her checkup and was 36 3/4 inches tall. She still loves to read and watch "shows", but most of all she loves to do any kind of craft, involving glue, markers, stamps etc. Her new favourite toy is her "doodle board" (magnetic board), and she draws circles and lines and squiggles, and asks me "what letter is this?". She can recognize all of her letters and is learning to recognize some words (like her name, Mommy, Daddy etc). She loves to learn and begs me to teach her things. She wants to learn numbers now, and also the sounds that letters make. She is always trying to understand what is going on, and asks lots of questions about "what is happening" and "what is ___ "? She also has quite the imagination and has many conversations with her various toys and stuffed animals which are always fun to overhear! She's at a great stage, and I'm definitely enjoying it!

Enjoying one of her favourite: "Smoooooothies"

"No throw this rock!" (she's got that right!!)

Now onto Kayla...she is still our little goofball and is such a bright and happy baby! At her 4 month appointment - she was 14 lbs 13 oz, so I'm not sure how big she is now, but she is definitely another tall girl! She is only 1 cm shorter than Mattea was at the same age, so they definitely got their Daddy's height! She is a jumperoo fanatic but her recent conquest is CRAWLING. She started doing pushups (on her hands and toes) just before turning 5 months, but in the last two weeks (just under 5 1/2 months) she is up on all 4's and is crawling. Sometimes forwards, sometime backwards...but she's is certainly going places! Let the baby proofing begin! The unfortunate part is, that is ALL she wants to do...so she practices every chance she gets, which means nap times are often translating into practice sessions! But she is remaining cheerful nonetheless and can play endlessly it seems! She is sitting as well, but is not 100% steady yet. She seems to be quite the little go-getter! She has started on solids as well, and is loving them. And more so, I think she loves being up in her chair next to her big sister as she distracts herself by laughing and smiling at Mattea (who usually isn't even paying attention to her!). She has also said her first word! She can say "hi"...well okay it's more like "haaaaaaaa" but she is doing it in response to us asking her...so I am pretty sure it counts! Aside from that, she has "buh buh" (no clue what it means...) and a whole lot of shrieking, squealing, spitting and bubble blowing!:-)

Ahhh the pre-crawling days....

Definitely NOT a neat freak like her sister....this one spits and thinks its funny! This was her first time eating solids...
Daddy and his little girls...(and yes, Mattea enjoying yet another smoothie)
Mommy getting some cuddles too!
Crazy grins....this is what we see from her pretty much 24/7. She is always ready with a big smile!
