New Years pics

Unfortunately Kayla is missing from a lot of these pics...she needed some adjustments to her attitude:-)

Kayla's attitude is still not fully adjusted:-P

Christmas 2012 pics

Here are some Christmas pics of us! Enjoy!

Mattea - Winter update

Here are some pics of Mattea over the past couple months. As of January 10th, she will be 3.5 but seems like she is a whole lot older with all her "wisdom". Lol...she is still as talkative as ever (not sure where she gets that from?:-P) and has the ability to cleverly manipulate her younger sister - typically so smoothly that the poor younger one doesn't even know she's been "had". Lol...

Her latest news is that she can READ! We started "reading lessons" at the end of September, and she is now reading quite well!!! She is on lesson 79 of "Teach your Child to Read in 100 easy lessons" (thanks Chantelle for the reminder about the book!). Its been great for her. She had memorized the sounds of each letter at 2.5 yrs old, so she was more than ready to tackle something new! The book teaches to read phonetically, which was right up her alley! She is great at sounding things out and is amazing us at what she can do! She is able to read Dr. Suess books (Hop on Pop etc) quite easily, and I've picked up a bunch of other early readers that she is working through. At the end of the 100 lessons, the book says the child will be reading at a Gr. 2 level...and although I don't think Mattea will read quite as fast as an older child would, we are still super proud of her!

Now we have to be careful about spelling words around her...she's catching on quick!!! She will go quiet for a minute, and then go...P-O-P says pop! I want some too!

One of her cute quotes recently was told to me by her Sunday school teacher...The teachers of the class wanted to hear a particular solo during the Christmas choir concert, so they let the class come into the hallway as long as they promised not to talk....while listening to the female vocalist, her teacher whispered to the class..."Doesn't she sounds so beautiful?", to which Mattea replied, "Oh yes! Why, she sounds just like my mother!"
Awww:-) At least I would have one person voting for me if I ever audition for Canadian Idol:-P

Gotta love the bedhead:-D and she LOVED opening her Advent each day. She loved getting the surprises and doing all the activities...her favourite one was "Go for a drive to see the Christmas lights" She made us use this one over and over;-)

Doing some "JK" work. We are focusing on learning to write now. I had tried before, but she didn't seem to have the fine motor skills to do it well, but then in early December she surprised me by writing out her name all by herself! She paused when she came to the "e" and then realizing she didn't know how to print a lowercase e, she did a capital E instead:-) So time to teach her the right way to write an e:-)

and in terms of size..she will have a Dr's appt soon which will give the official numbers, but on our scale she is 39.5 lbs and I think she is around 42-43 inches tall? All I know is that she is in size 5 clothes and they seem to fit her perfectly

Kayla - 21 months

Kayla turned 21 months in December and continues to be our spunky little sweetheart. She is as rowdy as a boy - loves wrestling and can easily take down her sister (and sit on her!). But then she is super sweet and loving and loves to take care of just about anything. She is the queen of kisses and hugs and showers them on everyone, especially her "Camey".

At her Dr's appointment, she was 29 lbs 4 ounces, and was 36 1/4 inches tall. She a few pounds lighter than Mattea was, but basically the same height at this age. So she is wearing size 3 clothes and they fit her perfectly!

I have to document that she is still a super messy eater - some things never seem to change. But since this picture, she has graduated to a spot at the table (because her little brother needed her highchair). Sooo we are doing a whole lot more sweeping and mopping as a result of the transition:-)

She had her first major fall at the beginning of Dec - out of her bed into her nightstand. She's been in her big girl bed since she was 18 months, but never once tried to get out. But there's a first time for everything - I think she was trying to reach and touch her lamp (so my fault for leaving it close enough that she thought she could reach it). She looked like a train wreck. Her nose was completely cut up (all the skin scraped off) and she had several cuts around her eye, nose, brow, cheek and as a result, ended up with her eye swelling shut, and then two black eyes a few days later. For those interested, I can email a pic of her mutilated face, but this pic is her on the road to recovery...after a whole lot of ice and being covered in vitamin E for 2 weeks!

She's talking alot now which is both a good thing and a bad thing....great that she can communicate with us, but then again sometimes, do you really want her to? Her classic lines now are "I no wanna...." and "no way!" NICE....

She is also too funny though - she adds an "s" on everything...Mommys, Daddys, Tea-s. And she also personalizes everything...she won't just say "hi". She has to say "hi Mommys". Not just I love you, but "I love you Daddys". Its too cute.

She is definitely a little sweetheart (despite being a trouble maker:-))...she always thinks of Mattea...asking for her, bringing her things, cleaning up after her, and of course copying her every move. And she will do anything for Canaan and constantly comments that he's "so cuuute":-) Such a good little/big sister:-)

Catching up on Canaan

Soooo I have alot of catching up to do!!! The last time I posted, Canaan was only 2 months old...he is now almost 5 months! So here are some pics of months 3-4 for you to see the cuteness unfolding:-D

Here he is at 13 weeks old in one of my favourite hoodies, which he has since outgrown:-( He is now into 9 and 12 month sizes because of his height!

14 weeks old - with one of his best buds, Mousie

14 weeks old - Not sure how this happened? Lol...

15 weeks old - he is the most drooly baby ever! He goes through at least 5 bibs a day! He also doesn't suck his finger like a normal kid...he jams his entire fist in his mouth. Also loves blowing bubbles and sticking his tongue out.. so, you are going to see lots of droolies hanging down in his pics:-D

15 weeks old - He finally likes his carseat! Well I don't know if I should say *likes*, he doesn't scream anymore though but lets out a huge grunt/groan whenever you tighten his straps. I guess that is his whole objection...he doesn't want to be pinned down! He is definitely an active little guy! But at least now our outings are enjoyable because he is as quiet as a lamb!

16 weeks old - Finally Daddy was around to capture his crazy smiles. Whenever I try to catch him, he gives me the most serious stares, but he is a super smiley and talkative baby!

16 weeks old - He just looked too cute this day...I must have taken a million shots. I'm starting to like these boy clothes:-)

His signature look...complete with drool:-D

17 weeks old - love the squished up sleeping faces:-) He has definitely been my trickiest one in terms of sleeping. He is too playful for his own good, so will lay in bed talking and laughing to himself or craning his neck to see his mobile - which is tough work when you sleep on your tummy! He does the same thing when he eats - so is constantly distracted by his sisters!

17 weeks old - There are some curls in there, we just need it to grow:-) He gets cute little swirls though around his ears and crown - so they are definitely in there!:-)

17 weeks - 1st solids! He wasn't overly impressed with cereal, but is now very happy with his fruits and veggies! Anytime he is in the highchair and he sees food (anyones!) he starts grunting and kicking and won't stop until he gets something!

17 weeks - doing his bedtime prayers:-)

Officially 4 months old (Dec 13) - He went to the Dr on the 17th (so 18 weeks) and he was 16 lbs 2 oz, and was 27 inches. Head was 42.6 cm. So he is in the 75th percentile for weight, and 97th for height. In comparison with the girls....he is 5 ounces lighter than Mattea (but 2 lbs heavier than Kayla), and is 1 inch taller than Mattea (and 1.5 taller than Kayla).

Glittering Gold

Jillaine was awarded the Royal Conservatory of Music's Provincial Gold Medal for harp.
Here she is receiving her award at the ceremonies at the University of Regina.

Happy Birthday Logan!

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT #6

In thinking of a birth announcement idea for #6, I happened to find this musical staff stationary. I knew just what to do! I typed my Word document with the applicable spacing and then I printed directly onto the stationary. Boy . Oh . Boy! Producing birth announcements sure was getting easier. I'd love to make some now. But don't worry! My baby days are over. However, I would make birth announcements for money! ;)

It would appear that this musical birth announcement was prophetic for Logan. He has charmed us with his musical ability from a toddler through to his adult years. Now before I take any prophetic compliments, I will set the record straight to avoid stoning. The title "grand finale" was what we were thinking and feeling, however God had other plans and we are so glad He did!

Our "Brady boy" now keeps us in stitches with his sense of humour. He can make a joke out of almost anything anyone says or does.

Logan has been a blessing to our family from being the "middle brother" and best friends with Davis & Kaden, to being a great little brother to Darla, Brent, Jared & Lauryn, and a grand big brother to Janessa, Jillaine, Lehman & Maryn.

He is also a  terrific son. "There is no greater joy than to know that your son walks in the Truth."
(III John 1:4)
