Ornaments

I love setting up the tree with all my old ornaments from when I was little. Grandma Shantz had the tradition to give us each an ornament every year, oftentimes she made them. There are some cute ones!

I was thinking this year...which one is my "baby's first" ornament? As far as I can tell, none of them are marked with '79, which was my first Christmas. I know this one is one of the older ones, but I'm not sure if it's my first. I should look in my scrapbook, I'm sure my mom has it in there! :-)

Cute little see-saw. This one is marked with 1980, so this was my second Christmas ornament.

Marshall

Posted by Darla:

Here are some pictures from Beccy/Mom/Grandma of Marshall. These first two were taken November 7th. Love the outfit!

Can't get enough pizza!

These next two were taken on September 19th. I really think he looks more like Chantelle/her side...

This one, to me, is just all Chantelle or her brother. Cutie, I love those baby blue eyes!

Mattea - 16 weeks

(Pics & Info from Lauryn)

These pics are of Mattea at 16 wks old, she will turn 4 months next week (will be 18 wks old). I just had her at the Dr. today...and here are her stats...

Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz = 95-97%
Height: 67 cm or 26.5 inches = >97%
Head circumference: 42 cm or 16.535 inches = 79%

...so we have a rather big girl on our hands! She is now able to wear some 9 month size clothes as a lot of the 6 months ones are too short for her. It's funny though because although she is heavy for her age...she isn't overly fat. She is definitely chubby but certainly not rolly polly fat...

Winter is coming!

Hey everyone, I can't believe how long it has been and how much has changed! It is snowy up here in the Great White North and winter is getting well under way. Brent is still working hard with Dueck Brothers and God has definitely provided us with a lot of work. Marshall is already five months old and growing into quite the young man. There is no keeping him still or in one place and he rolls from one end of the room to the other. He is starting to try and crawl but his kicking and moving generally ends up with him moving backwards. Marshall is quite the social butterfly and is full of smiles and giggles for many, however he has quite a stubborn streak. We definitely have our hands full but it is a true blessing to be his parents. Marshall has also started to mimick sounds that we make, for example he does not quite know the meaning but when asked he will say "ma-ma". He has also found that his lips make a smacking sound when he puts them together and pulls them apart so he is constantly doing it. Other than a couple of colds we have been keeping quite healthy and pray that it will stay that way. We look forward to a fun filled holiday with family and wish you all a happy winter!

More Pictures and comments from Lauryn, posted by Darla

Mattea is now 3 months old (13 wks)! She has rolled over a few times (starting at 12 weeks), and loves to grab and "eat" everything in sight! She's big...in 6 month clothes! Lauryn isn't sure of her exact weight, but she looks like a chunker!

These are some of her expressions! She is 11 & 12 wks in the pics.

She loves to talk in a high pitched girly voice to her toys!

Princess in training :-)

Mommy life

It's been a while since we have had Marshall, two months have flown by fast and I haven't had the chance to say how it has been. The last two months have been such a blessing with our little boy. It's hard to believe that he is already cooing, smiling and playing! Life has definitely been an adventure and there is a lot to learn but we have been getting along marvelously. Marshall is very interactive and is starting to hold his head up, he loves bathtime and reading stories but his favorite time of the day is just sitting and talking with Mommy and Daddy. The conversations we have with him are amazing (we call them conversations because he has a whole range of vocal emotions and responds to everything we say!). He dislikes diaper changes and tummy time but I think the funniest angry moments are when he is made to burp. He has developed quite the little attitude and when i know he has to burp I lift him up to do it. When he feels it is unnecessary or just plain wants to be difficult he will straighten his body stiff as a board and make it virtually impossible to fold him in half. He will scream until he turns blue and then take another gasp of air to let those little lungs go! It is amazing how the personality is evident so early in life, I think we will have our hands full with this little man! Life has been great and we look forward to the future and new adventures as a family.

Introducing the Newest Cutie Pie!

She's finally here! Mattea Leigh was born ten days late, weighing in at 8 lbs 15 oz and was 21.25 in long! Mark and Lauryn brought her home from the hospital yesterday and are praising God for her safe arrival. Enjoy some pictures Lauryn sent via email.

Aw, what a sweet picture. Gotta love the Daddy's and their baby girls!

Looking at Mommy

Looking quite a bit like her Daddy, I'm thinking...
Love the hair!

Long fingers! I can tell she's a real chub already:-)

Marshall Payton Pics!!!

I'm adding some pics Brent and Chantelle sent with Mom...since they don't have internet at their house, I'm assuming it's ok to post these adorable pics of the baby. He's so cute! Anyway, I am not sure of the exact dates these were taken, but here they are...

Yet Another Hair Funny

We have identical twins in our youth group, Josh & Jon. They are very identical, and no one can tell them apart. Last week one of them came in with a big cut/scar on his face. Brian was making his introductions and mentioned he was glad he got his face marked up, because now he can tell them apart. Josh calls out, "Well, until you got your hair cut I couldn't tell you and Darla apart either". I actually laughed out loud. It was pretty funny. Brian just rolled his eyes. Yet another joke at the expense of his hair, which is now back to short (like it was at our wedding, or back when we met in Chicago). It seems it will be short for awhile.

Vacation Time

Last night at dinner...I don't really know how the conversation evolved, but Kenna asked when we could go on vacation. I said, where do you want to go?. "Poppa's house, with the soccer ball"...that is Grandpa Kennedy's. "Can we go Mom, please!" I said, well, we can't go right now, we will probably go when you are 4. (Just trying to establish that it will be a long time, and not right away). BUT, I explained, you know who might come to us for a vacation when you are 3?, Janessa, Jillaine and Grandma Kennedy. "aaahhh! And they have a trampoline, and water, and everysing!!" Brian and I just smiled at each other. She has a good little memory! Hopefully she is not assuming they will be bringing those items with them:-)

Davis' Babies:-)

Davis has a bit of exciting news! It's TWINS. And they are red! :-)

He bought a truck...it's used...

And he bought a car. It's a new (and gorgeous) Mustang.

He wanted to wait until his christening drive to Regina to show Jared & Liana before bragging about it. Jared was surprised and excited. Liana didn't notice the car, despite a variety of attempts to draw her attention to it. She was seemingly more impressed with Mom & Dad's new Acadia. Of course she was very impressed once she saw it!!

I am excited too...I know what I will be driving next time I am in town!

Who Else?

This morning around 7 I heard the kids talking to each other in their room as they woke up. Kenna came rushing in to me, "Mom, Mom! You know, Lemon (Lehman) and Maryn? And who else?" Janessa and Jillaine? I answered. "Yes!" and she went running off again to her brother. I have no idea what that was about, but it was pretty cute.

Maryn's Excitement

Well on Tues. at breakfast time Maryn complained of stomach ache but ate a little something and not another complaint from her all day. She was active and totally normal. At supper, she all of a sudden had bad stomach pain, didn’t want to eat etc. and in no time at all was throwing up. I thought OK here we go with the flu and I wonder how many will catch it. She continued to be sick all evening and through out the night. Not much sleep for us. By about 4 I was suspecting appendix and by 7:30 I was pretty sure. So we loaded her up complete with a barf bucket, dropped Logan off at his piano lesson at 8:15 and stopped in at the Doctor’s office. We were seen immediately. I think the look of a child with a bucket in tow speeds up the process :-) The doctor’s examined her and looked at me, smiled, winked and said yep! He phoned the hospital letting them know we were on our way and told us which surgeon to ask for when we arrived. They did her blood work and she was certainly displaying all symptoms. Off to the OR. I told her she will never forget April Fool’s Day again! Anyhow we got home this evening and she is doing quite well. Walking delicately and we hope her pain meds hold her. They had to do a full incision because she was too tiny to do the laproscopy procedure. So 3 out of 11….must be genetic? :-)

POST FROM BECCY

Joy is Bundled

I'm not sure if Lauryn or Mark want to contribute to the blog, so I will post the news for now (also so I can get the baby tagged with a label...I like to have everyone counted!). They are expecting their first baby in July!! This is making 2009 the year for Kennedy babies! Congrats to L & M, we can't wait to hear when he/she arrives:-)
