Kayla - 2 years + 5 months

Yes, technically I should save this post until she is actually 2.5 ...but hey, I'm on a roll! With my track record, I won't get around to posting her 2.5 update until she is 3:-P Lol...
Who was saying that we are all so photogenic??? We are thinking of renaming this one Chandler:-P She seriously thinks she is smiling!

She does better when she doesn't try:-P

Little Kayla tries so hard to be girly...she is obsessed with looking like a beautiful princess. But more often than not she looks like the above picture...crazed hair, food stuck all over, but then obsessed that she "meeds a dissue" to clean, I mean smear, the mess all over her hands (face, legs, arms, feet, you name it...she wipes it). What she really needs is a mirror:-P Darla aptly named her...Messy Bessy. Truly she could win an award.

She is sweet and loving to a fault. She errs on the side of smothering. She is also our squealer and screamer of the bunch whether happy, sad or mad...its hard to tell which is which sometimes!

She is definitely a little copy cat. From actions to expressions, from good to bad. If Mattea does something, she is compelled to do it. For the most part, this is not a good thing as her sister knows exactly how to bait her and Kayla being more adventurous will do all of the hair-brained ideas Mattea has (but she herself is too chicken to do!).  But there are the few instances where Mattea has rubbed off some good on her...Kayla is also loving doing her school work and is quite advanced in what she knows! I often catch Mattea trying to teach Kayla how to read:-)

Canaan Catchup and 1 year update

I have not posted any pictures of Canaan in ages...so here's a few to show you him over the last few months. The biggest change you will see is in his hair!

Here he was in April - 8 months old. Standing and cruising but no official steps! He was 21 lbs 7 oz and was 31.5 inches tall.

Here is was in May - 9 months old

These next few are from June - 10 months old. He was 24 lbs 15 oz, and was 32.5 inches tall.

Note the hair starting to get curlier!

Here are pics from July - 11 months old, and entering into two new phases, walking and crazy hair!

He LOVED the beach and the sand. So much so, that he is spoiled, when we came back home, he cried when we tried taking him in a regular pool. I guess it was colder than what he expected it to be!

I still think he looks mostly like his Daddy...I'm not seeing much of me in there!

Here are pics from August - 12 months old! He is walking like a pro, and FULL of mischief...touching things that the girls never even thought to touch! He is full of trouble, but always with a smile!

At his 12 month checkup, he had slimmed down a bit (24 lbs 12 oz), which I think happened during the vacation. He was 33 inches tall - so in typical style for our kids...well off the charts for his height!

We celebrated his birthday this past weekend - and went with a sports theme. He loves balls and so we featured all the sports Daddy would like him to play:-D

After doing rainbow themed marshmallows at Mattea's party, why not baseballs? and a few footballs while we're at it! Then dipped some oreos in white chocolate and made them into baseballs. I finally tried working with royal icing (for the stitching), and it was surprisingly easy!

I hauled out all of Mark's old sports paraphernalia - trophies, jerseys, plaques, medals, even equipment and hung them up throughout the house. His family had fun going down memory lane as they saw all his old stuff! And if you look closely...you will notice a small jersey in dining room...that one is Caney's! He got it as a baby gift and at this rate...will be fitting in it soon!:-)

And of course, who can forget the birthday boy! All decked out in his Raptors jersey from Grandpa and Grandma Kennedy:-D It was his first time wearing it (officially - its hung in his room as decoration!), and it won't be the last!:-D

Mattea - 4 years old

Time for her update! She turned 4 in July...and had quite the month to remember! Going on vacation, then coming home and having her cousins and Auntie Darla come and stay with us for 12 whole days! It was an action packed month especially for a 4 year old!:-D

At her 4 year checkup she was 44.5 inches tall and weighed 41.5 lbs. So still super tall, but slimming down!

She is still loving to read and do schoolwork and we are gearing up to start our first year of "real" school in September!

She is playing soccer this summer, and has been quite the little goal scorer! That is...when she actually tries...which is only about half the time:-P She is quite good and scores almost every time she actually concentrates on the game but half the time seems more concerned with watching the other players and perfecting her run (ie. looking all pretty while doing it...lol). Adding to Daddy's frustration of coaching a whole team of little girls who are all doing the same thing! Lol...

Mattea absolutely loved having an older girl cousin around! She idolized Kenna...and still talks about her nonstop!
We went with a My Little Pony theme for her birthday party...focusing on rainbows in honour of one of her favourite ponies, Rainbow Dash. She got a new bike for her birthday, which she carefully selected based on the following criteria...Bell? Check. Streamers? Check. Basket? Check. Bonus...multi-coloured wheels and pedals! She prompted named...Rainbow Dash (surprise surprise:-P).

Random Road Trip

Over Civic Holiday Mark's company gave him an extra day off. Yay! After doing some errands in the morning and coming home for lunch, Mark decided to load the kids in the car and go for a drive! And where did we end up? Niagara Falls!:-D

We had never taken the kids before, so this was quite the experience for them! They LOVED looking at the falls, and we even got to see a double rainbow! Very picturesque!

Here's one of me, for those who say I don't post enough pics of myself:-P

Daddy and Caney...who didn't look too impressed with the mist from the falls. He couldn't understand what was going on...and where the water was coming from!

I think I've mentioned before that she loves Canaan to death? And is always literally smothering him with hugs and kisses....
...well now you know why he runs away from her, yells at her and gives her nasty looks whenever she even comes close. Poor kid was strapped into the stroller and subjected to her loving torture!:-)

So that was it...a random spontaneous day trip...literally, saw the Falls, walked a bit, ate...and drove back home! But it was definitely another great memory for us from this summer!
