A First Time for Everything

I was 50 when I had my first pedicure. A birthday gift from a girlfriend. Now I am 54, almost 55, and I had my nails done for the very first time! A Mother's Day gift from Janessa, Jillaine, Lehman and Maryn.

I inherited my father's nails with flat, wide nail beds. My nails are weak, soft, and yet very brittle. I have tried to make them look better with nail polish, however as a mother who always seemed to have her hands in water, I could never get the polish to last very long.

 I decided on a French manicure style with pink tips. I am in ♥!

I think a bad good habit has been created. I doubt this first time will not be the last time.

Knee Surgery

On May 1, 2013, I went to the Aspen Surgical center. For surgery on my left knee. They  were doing an arthroscopy. The doctor said that there was a lot of scarring and adhesions. Also the ligament connecting the femur to the tibula was to short for the knee to move properly. He lengthened it and cleaned up the scarring.

I was in a lot of pain

Vienna was with us for the day and she enjoyed holding my hand.

These are the incisions. One below the horizontal line on the left side one on each
side of the vertical line. The ink was permanent so it has been hard to wash off.

Mom and Dad let me play X-box while I was on bed rest for three days.
Good job Mom didn't get rid of Davis' old crutches when we moved.

My left foot swelled a lot. I usually where a size 6 1/2 shoe and my foot got so big I had to where Janessa's shoes which are size 8 1/2

All healed up with a little bit of ink still showing 3 weeks later!

My Finger

On Monday, I was making taco salad for dinner. As I was cutting the red peppers, the knife slipped and cut my finger. I thought it was just a little cut, but as mom was pouring porxide on it she said there was a hole in my finger. She wrapped it up, and told Jillaine to find the missing piece (she found it but unfortunately she threw it out without getting a picture first). The SQUEAMISH must look away!

I cut off the whole tip of my finger!

I had to take pictures and share with all of you, cause this is my first major injury of my life.

The white part is re-grown skin. It is healing quite nicely. I can't get it wet so I have to shower with a plastic bag over my hand. I also have discovered that I am a klutz. I have dropped multiple things on my finger and smashed it into doors trying to open them. It still is super painful, and tender.
