"Engaging" News!

First of all Merry Christmas from Logan & Kari down in Edmonton! We hope your day is wonderful and filled with blessings as we remember the birth of our saviour!
Second, We are engaged! Logan popped the question on December 22 after I (Kari) had a long tiring day at work, so it was perfect timing :) I will be posting the engagement story in a few days. Right now, we are enjoying Christmas day with my family in Edmonton! I have pictures to post and the story to write so it is coming soon! The wedding is going to take place this summer. No specific dates yet, but stay tuned!

Winter!

Just a quick little update on the Brent side of the family :)

Brent is a very busy man with work which is a real blessing for us! He currently has two apprentices, Kaden and Andrea's Burkhart as well as another new Carpenter named Cam that is working as their new finisher. I wish I could say that Winter is a welcomed arrival but when it comes to his job, Brent could definitely do without the cold weather! Hunting this year went well for Brent, we have two deer worth of meat in our freezer as well as some moose from the Tylers. Brent has enjoyed hunting this season but perhaps the most exciting news that he may have is that we now have a quad. This opens a lot more doors for where he can hunt as well as quad dates with his wife!

As for me (Chantelle) I have been very busy with a lot of little things. A lot of trips to and from the doctor's with sicknesses and what-not have been the story of my life lately. Those along with the baby appointments have made the doctors office almost like a second home to Marshall and I. All seems to be well with the baby, I have probably heard the heartbeat 5 times by now, had one ultrasound and another one on the 6th of December. This baby seems to be a lot less active than Marshall which excites us to see who this little one is and what their personality might be like!

Marshall is growing up so fast and will soon be a year and a half. He is talking a lot (most of it just excited babbles) but there are plenty of words in his dictionary, but too many to count. He is a very active boy and short of his sleep times he is rarely sitting still. He loves most people as long as they are not dressed in halloween costumes and that coupled with his social personality makes him a very loveable little boy and a joy to all! Marshall has a special affinity to other children and Grandpa's. Whether we are at church or the doctor's office, it is hard to keep him away from the grey haired men. There is a certain love that Marshall has for his puppies and even though he scares Blue sometimes they love him back. Our boy is getting taller and skinnier and no longer looks like a little boy as much as he looks like a toddler. He is a never ending teether, always having as many as 8 teeth starting to come up at one time, giving him a mouth full of pearly whites. We especially love the little gap in his front teeth it is a very distinctive feature that we love about him.

Bagpiper!

Remember this post? Where Logan had a dream...a dream of learning to play the bagpipes...It's been less than a year, and the dream has come true!! Check out Kari's blog (Kari is Logan's girlfriend...and Chantelle's cousin too!) For the first picture of said bagpipes. Sorry, no underwear this time:-)

Mattea update: 13-15 months

Ok I'm definitely behind on posting here!

In update news for Mattea, she is growing up too fast! She is talking a mile a minute now and even going potty on occasion! She surprises us everyday with new words and sentences such as "brush your teeth", "wash your hands", and "sit on your butt" (I guess I will have to really watch what I say from now on!). She will try to repeat any and every word we say and is also attempting to sing now (and is surprisingly on key every time!). She finally got 4 teeth at 13 months, so she is slowly catching up! She weighs 28 pounds and is 34 3/4 inches tall, as of her doctors appointment last week. So still well off the charts in all respects!

She is now in daycare, and apparently is the ring leader there and organizes everyone else. I guess that's the advantage of being the biggest and the only one that can talk. You end up getting exactly what you want!

Anyway we are loving her to death as usual and enjoying this new phase as she is rapidly becoming a BIG GIRL!

Grandma Shantz

Grandma Shantz (Beccy's mom), lost her short battle with cancer on October 1st. She now has a home in heaven that outshines the sun! We will miss her, we love her, and we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful Grandma.

We are having such a beautiful fall in Regina! We went out this afternoon and snapped some pics in the neighbourhood park.

Marshall is going to be a BIG brother!

We are very excited to announce the expected arrival of our new little baby! Baby is expected to arrive on April 22 (Good Friday!) of next year. We had an ultrasound today (Sept 21) and the baby seemed fine and surprisingly active!

Here is a few pics of our little girl. I generally avoid all techie stuff (I even hate operating the TV remotes), but I think I finally got to get into this... so here goes.

She is still swimming in most of her clothes. She is a lot more bright eyed now. The general consensus is that she looks like me, but I don't have any baby pics to compare. She is generally a very happy girl, loves to eat, makes great faces, and makes lots of squeaky noises. Her nicknames for now: Via, Raspy, Squeaks, Muncheroo, and variations of that.

Hair Today...

Remember Janessa and Jillaine's long hair? Well they decided it was time to cut it. Jillaine attempted to sell hers online (used for porcelain dolls and wigs), - someone else in town had done that and got around $700! But after a $1000 or so deal fell through, she decided to cut it anyway, and donate it to Locks of Love, a program that accepts hair donations to make wigs for cancer patients. Pantene offers free shipping to send in your hair! Here is the big change!

Jillaine's hair is the thickest, and was the longest. She hasn't had her hair this short in 8 years!!

Official Adult

Kaden graduated high school in the Spring, and has recently been hired as a carpenters apprentice with the company Brent works for. He was interested in getting into car mechanics, or carpentry, and was open to either, depending on where he could get a job...so it seems he's going to give carpentry a try! He purchased Davis' truck from him, as Davis will not be taking it to SK. So now he has a job, his very own truck, and his very own cell phone & plan. Yay for officially entering the adult world of jobs, bills, and responsibility!!

Moving Out

Davis has some news...he handed in his resignation at Peace Windows in August, and is moving to Regina, SK, today!

He will be looking for a job (manufacturing/managerial, like he has been doing) there, and a house to buy. Until then, he's crashing at Jared & Liana's! He's been wanting to get to "the big city" for awhile now, and it was the right time to make the big leap!

Congrats to Davis on the big move. We wish him all the best of luck in SK!...and he will have computer and hi-speed access there...perhaps another blog contributor? I'll have to work on him!

Vienna is here!!

Vienna Eden was born on August 24, 2010. She was in breach and taken by c-section. What a sweet heart! We can't wait to meet her. Congrats to the new little family of 3!
