Important Detail

Ooops! I forgot an important detail!
The kitchen had old vinyl flooring. The living room, dining area, hall, and bedrooms were old carpet. The amazing carpet was ripped out on the day after possession! We had been told there was hardwood under the carpet. However, we soon discovered that the second bedroom had no hardwood underneath.
Once we opened up the kitchen and dining area by taking out some walls, we wondered about what to do with the flooring to tie it in with the hardwood. When the build-ins were taken out of the master bedroom, it was discovered that there was no hardwood under them. So the hardwood in the master bedroom was taken out carefully, piece by piece. The kids removed all the nails. Then Kaden and Dave re-installed it in the kitchen.

Dilemna solved! Now the open concept floor plan is completely tied together with the same flooring. And the master bedroom has wall to wall flooring too!

The Great Reveal

The final step: Kaden's boss refinished the hardwood floors for him.

Youth Orchestra

Lehman is a participant this year in the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra. They had the opportunity to go to The Banff Centre in AB for additional training from November 15 -18th.
I, Beccy, went along as a chaperone. We traveled by coach buses, had amazing food and enjoyed the beauty of the Rockies as well as being entertained with a wonderful concert.  The orchestra actually played 5 songs, but my battery died. Unfortunately our camera is getting old and the battery won't hold a charge. I apologize for the shaking and movement of the camera. Having just had carpel tunnel surgery in Sept and then the other hand done two days before we left, I should have had a tripod.

The real highlight of the trip was that Tara (our niece & cousin) was able to drive a little west from her place and have a visit. It was so good for this Auntie to be able to spend some time with her! ♥

2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest

Names were drawn at Thanksgiving for team/partners. Planning a design and purchasing a pumpkin were the topic of discussion for the duration of time until October 30th.

Liana & Maryn
Lehman & Jillaine
Jared & Amy
Dave & Beccy
Janessa & Kaden
My apologies that there are no pictures of  Davis & Dani - my camera battery went dead.  :/

Everyone votes on the best pumpkin with the only rule being that you cannot vote for your own.

And the winner is.....drum roll please....The Pink Panther by Dave & Beccy.

And next...putting it back together

It took a total of four dumpsters for all the garbage for the shingles, carpets, ripping out the upstairs and basement, as well as concrete from some bad sidewalks. I placed multiple ads on usedregina.ca giving away many items, as well as two whole-to-the-roof van loads of stuff to The Thrift Store. The whole house was gutted and by August we were building it back up again.

Here are some pics of the remodelling and not necessarily in order of completion:

 new bathtub
 new sink & toilet
  (with original light fixture)
 bathroom painted

 existing rafters removed

 new vaulted ceiling framed in
insulated
 living room dry-walled
 bedroom dry-walling
 living room painted
 master bedroom dry-walled
dry wall going up
kitchen cabinets moving in

Next...ripping it apart.

Well, you've seen the before pictures...oh, except for the exterior. So here it is!
Ta da!

When Brent and Brian arrived in town for Davis & Danielle's wedding, they were quite eager to help out. Brian discovered that the house needed to be rewired, so he and Brent got busy and went to work. They also suggested that the living room would look so good with a vaulted ceiling. Kaden agreed so Amy and Janessa took the ceiling down, and were completely showered with the wood shavings insulation. All carpet was removed. Walls that Kaden wanted removed were done during that week. A dumpster was loaded!

Now I'll show you the work in progress...
