Dora Girls - Kayla actually sings "D-d-d-d-dwah" and starts laughing and smiling instantly if she sees anything with Dora on it, and if that happens to be a doll....you can bet it is going to be covered in slobbery kisses!
Matching Christmas pajamas... Mattea loves to have Kayla sit with her and read together...Kayla is much more interested in stealing the book! Daddy and Kayla during playtime before bed... Mommy and her girls on Christmas day...poor Kayla had a bad cold (note the Rudolph nose!) Family picture on Christmas Day...after a thousand shots...we still couldn't get one of everyone smiling, so I call this the best of the worst! 3 out of 4 ain't too bad...
As for Little Miss Kayla....she is not so little!!! She is actually 1/2 and inch taller than Mattea was at her 10 month appointment! The only difference is...she is 3 lbs lighter! So definitely a leaner build but still weighs in at 22 lbs! (I guess that just means Mattea was a little tank!)
She has 5 teeth now....(compare with Mattea...0 until 13 months! lol...) - and she knows how to use those teeth! She eats anything and everything we do now, and is extremely jealous and will pout if she thinks Mattea got something to eat that she didn't.
Yes, there ARE curls in there!!! We are just waiting for them to grow!!!
She has taken two steps so far, and stands on her own but doesn't seem overly interested in walking as she is a fast crawler! So I guess she has no need! She is babbling like crazy and can say a more words than I can even count, however, very few of which will she actually say on command. She pretty much echos whatever she hears Mattea saying and wants desperately to keep up with her.
She is super active, and won't sit still for even a moment....her favourite thing to do is to crawl away as fast as she can laughing whenever she knows you want her to come. Usually this ends up with her halfway up the staircase laughing and giggling! Basically she loves to do and touch and anything she isn't supposed to but as mischievous as she may be she remains our happy, smiley little baby and we love her to pieces!:-)
Mattea turned 2 1/2 in January and at her Dr's appt she was 39 inches tall and 35 lbs (so no surprises there!) She is starting to love watching Disney movies (yay no more Treehouse!) and is currently addicted to Bolt and Lion King. Most of her imaginary games are now comprised of running away from hyenas and rescuing Penny from danger:-) She also is loving board games and is surprising us with her ability to actually understand and play them!
Wearing a size 5 outfit and scarier still...it fits!!!
She shocked me last week when reading together, as she went through the entire alphabet and named the sounds of each letter on her own! And this was not something I had taught her! - she learned off a movie she had seen twice at her cousins house! So now she wants to know what each word starts with, and can figure it out on her own too! I guess we can start bringing on some early reading lessons!
As the expression goes...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! And in this family the love of music and the love of the guitar sure were in the gene pool. Here is Logan playing the guitar in a different way than his father has ever tried. Dave was in awe and in love!
Logan and Kari came for a week and it was delightful - a blessing we would say. Life brings these 'blessings', but it also brings some 'blessings' that in our humaness we'd rather not have. The Truth in this song is as beautiful as their voices.
Blessings We pray for blessings We pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering All the while, You hear each spoken need Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom Your voice to hear And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love As if every promise from Your Word is not enough All the while, You hear each desperate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us When darkness seems to win We know that pain reminds this heart That this is not, this is not our home It's not our home
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy And what if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise (by Laura Story)
